New Director of Housing and Neighborhood Development Will Provide Strategic Direction and Oversight of OED’s Community Development Efforts Andre Pettigrew, executive director of the Denver Office of Economic Development (OED), has announced the appointment of Terrance Ware as OED’s director of Housing and Neighborhood Development. “We are excited to bring Terrance on board to lead our housing and neighborhood development efforts,” said Pettigrew. “From TREX planning, to the redevelopment of Stapleton Airport and Villa Italia Mall, Terrance has an incredible track record in land development, planning, architecture and urban design. His talents will help our Office with further developing viable urban neighborhoods, while expanding economic opportunities for our residents.” Ware brings more than 28 years of community revitalization experience in both the public and private sectors to the City. A proven organizational leader and manager, Ware has extensive local and national experience with redevelopment efforts, mixed-use urban infill projects, mass transit corridors, transportation oriented developments, neighborhood planning and community development. Ware most recently worked as senior urban designer/planner for OTAK Inc., a Portland, Oregon architecture, design, engineering and planning firm. Before joining OTAK, Ware served as planning director for the City and County of Broomfield, where he led the development and implementation of Broomfield’s Comprehensive Plan. He also worked for the City of Lakewood as both the director of the Lakewood Revitalization Authority and as the director of urban design. Ware was a senior city planner with the City and County of Denver in the early 1990’s. Other employment includes the cities of Boulder, Berkeley, California, BRW, Inc./URS Corp., LDR International/HNTB and other architectural and planning firms. As OED director of Housing and Neighborhood Development, Ware will provide strategic direction and oversight of OED’s community development efforts and collaborate with the community to protect and enhance Denver’s distinctive neighborhoods and housing opportunities. Ware serves on the Denver Housing Authority Board of Commissioners and is a past Denver Planning Board member. He is an adjunct faculty member for the University of Colorado. Ware received his master’s degree in architecture from the University of Colorado at Denver. He received his undergraduate degree in environmental design from the University of Colorado at Boulder. The Denver Office of Economic Development (OED) works to create a local environment that stimulates balanced economic growth through job creation, business assistance, housing options and neighborhood redevelopment. The OED Division of Housing and Neighborhood Development (DHND) facilitates the development of viable urban neighborhoods by providing quality affordable housing, an enhanced living environment, and expanded economic opportunities for low- and moderate-income residents. DHND offers finance assistance for residential housing, technical assistance for neighborhood revitalization, asset management and compliance assistance, and finance assistance for developers. |
